Common Questions

Answers for families considering memory care

What is a memory care community?+

A memory care community is a setting where well-trained senior care professionals provide specialized care for residents diagnosed with Alzheimer’s or another form of Dementia. Our memory care communities are designed specifically for people with cognitive impairments so they are safe, secure, and can experience an enhanced quality of life.

How long has Fox Trail Memory Care Living been providing care in the community?+

Fox Trail Memory Care Living has been providing care since 2010 when we started operations with our original Memory Care Living communities. We have expanded to a network of multiple memory care home locations in central and northern New Jersey and plan to add more to continue offering compassionate, resident-centered care in the communities we call home.

What makes your communities different from other care options?+

Fox Trail Memory Care Living is a pioneer in residential living for people needing Alzheimer’s disease care or care for other Dementia-related illnesses. As the largest provider of residential Dementia care in New Jersey, we aim to deliver the best quality experience for our residents. Some of the reasons we stand out from other assisted living and skilled nursing providers include:

  • Small, intimate communities with no more than 16 residents
  • Unparalleled care partner-to-resident ratio
  • Personalized care for each resident
  • Upfront, bundled pricing with no hidden costs
  • SPARK! resident engagement program
  • Comprehensive Care Program
  • Licensed under the NJ Department of Health instead of the NJ Department of Community Affairs
How does Fox Trail Memory Care Living communicate with families about a resident's well-being?+

At Fox Trail Memory Care Living, we believe family members of residents should be involved in every way they feel comfortable. If you want to be in frequent contact with staff, we encourage each resident’s family to work with their community’s house leader. The house leader will contact you throughout your loved one’s experience and you can reach out to them when you need to.

What financial benefits do you offer?+

Fox Trail Memory Care Living offers upfront, bundled pricing with finance options designed to fit the needs of our residents and their families. We also accept veteran benefits and long-term care insurance that can help cover costs. To learn more about our financial options, call 855-5ME-MORY.

Are the memory care communities secure?+

Yes, our memory care communities are secure to keep residents safe and provide peace of mind for families. Each home is equipped with a state-of-the-art security system, including fences that surround the property. There are audible alarms on the doors, windows, and fences, so staff will be alerted if a resident tries to wander.

What if my loved one likes to wander?+

Many seniors with cognitive impairments wander. At Fox Trail Memory Care Living, we understand this behavior is common and can be helpful, so we do not discourage it. However, we monitor residents while they wander and have hallways that return to common areas to facilitate safe movement. Our caring staff is highly trained to deal with all aspects of cognitive impairments, including wandering. We address each situation individually to provide customized care and support.

What amenities are available for residents?+

At Fox Trail Memory Care Living, our residents have access to a wide range of amenities to keep them comfortable, safe, and content. Our amenities include 24-hour onsite care, home-cooked meals and snacks served family-style, housekeeping and laundry services, walking paths, a garden, onsite activities, routine physician visits, and medication management.

What is the HOPE program?+

HOPE stands for Holistic Assessment, Optimized Treatment Plan, Patient Empowerment, and Engaged Support Network. It is a comprehensive care program that helps integrate medical services into the daily lives of our residents, ensuring they receive the highest level of care and that their families can have peace of mind. The elements are as follows:

  • Holistic assessment: We assess your physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs to develop personalized care plans.
  • Optimized treatment plan: We develop optimized treatment plans tailored to your unique needs and goals.
  • Patient empowerment: We provide residents with the knowledge, resources, and support they need to make informed health decisions.
  • Engaged support network: We foster meaningful connections and collaboration between members of residents’ support networks.

This comprehensive approach helps promote healing, resilience, and well-being in our residents.

Are there specific visiting hours at Fox Trail Memory Care Living?+

No. Since our memory care communities are your loved ones’ homes, family members and friends can visit during normal hours on any day of the week.

What time do residents eat at Fox Trail Memory Care Living?+

Our delicious and nutritious meals are served at typical times every day, and we encourage our residents to enjoy their meals with other residents in our dining areas. However, we can accommodate residents who prefer to eat earlier or later.

How often are laundry and housekeeping services provided?+

Each resident’s room is cleaned once every two weeks and laundry is done once a week. It can also be done in between if needed.

Can I put a TV in my loved one's room?+

If your loved one enjoys watching a certain show, you can choose to put a TV or radio in their room. However, we encourage our residents to use shared televisions and socialize with the other residents in the community living room rather than having their own TV in their room.
